History of Henna on Hair
Henna has been used since 3400 BC and is a well documented method
for dying hair (and skin) Cleopatra used Henna with indigo to dye her
long black tresses and Henna is mentioned in the bible in Song of Songs as being
used for adornment of hair and body as well as scent.
Women and men in the
middle east have been dyeing their hair with henna for centuries, it is known that the
prophet Muhammed used henna on his beard and hair. Henna offers a safe alternative to coloring
with commercial hair dyes which normally contain harmful chemicals that can damage the
hair shaft. Henna King uses ingredients like
chamomile, bayberry root, rhubarb, coffee, tea, cloves, walnut powder and indigo to obtain our rich vibrant
colors. So, not only is our Henna good for your hair and scalp (helps
dandriff)it's all 100% natural.
Henna will always give
your hair a beautiful shine and you can apply henna to your hair as many times as you want to achieve the desired color.

Henna has a long history as a

Henna and Gray Hair
Using henna on gray hair is possible
but sometimes takes 2-3 times to completely cover
the gray because of
the changes in the protein base of gray hairs. Just apply
the Henna to
your roots first then apply it again to the entire head and
you should have it covered.

Henna, while coloring the hair also conditions it, making it the oldest
form of Hair color and conditioner. Because
Henna is all natural it
does not dye your hair like synthetic dyes. henna coats the hair
with a transparent coloring.
As you repeatedly apply henna on your
hair, the color of your hair will get deeper and richer looking.
Henna coats
each hair shaft with a natural semi-permanent protein
called henna tannic acid. Heat causes the acid to cling to
the
proteins found in the hair. Because Henna seals and coats the hair
shaft, it helps protect the hair from the damaging effects of sun,
salt, chlorine, wind, pollution, hair drying and the
environment. In addition to
protecting the hair shaft, henna
will tighten the hair cuticle and create a more solid surface which
reflects light.
The result is gleaming, lustrous, shiny hair that your
friends will envy.

Can I lighten my hair with

No, henna will only change

About 6-8 weeks, varying
with each individual. Remember henna can be used as often as you like
without ever damaging your hair.
Can I perm before or after
Henna dyeing?
Yes, just do a strand test
first. Waiting a week between is always a good idea.
Can I use Henna if I am
Pregnant?
Yes, unlike chemical dyes
henna is all natural. Henna without any colors added are the best choice.
Henna will always give

good for your hair and can't harm it. Henna has a long history as a
safe, gentle hair color. Henna enhances and deepens existing color, the
darker your natural color the darker the henna color. Because henna is safe
and has no chemicals but is a translucent hair dye you can not lighten your
hair with henna, only change the color.
How To Use Henna King Henna
Hair Powder:
STEP 1) You will need rubber gloves, a comb, cling wrap, towel, a bowl, mixing spoon and newspapers to cover the floor. Any spillages or
uncovered surfaces should be cleaned immediately. STEP 2) Always carry out a
strand test before a full head application. Follow the instructions and remember
that henna continues to brighten your hair for a couple of hours after you've
washed it off. Previous chemical hair treatments will affect the finished result
particularly in the case of bleached or lightened hair . A strand test is
EXTRA IMPORTANT in these cases so EVEN IF A STRAND TEST WAS SUCCESSFUL
PREVIOUSLY DO IT BEFORE EVERY NEW APPLICATION. STEP 3) Henna has a stunning
effect on hair sprinkled with gray; the gray bits will sparkle bright red
amongst the darker hairs. If you've over 40% gray prepare for a very vibrant
result and always include some gray hair in your strand test. STEP 4) Put
a small amount of Henna in a bowl, add liquid, mix, use rubber
gloves to apply to a section of hair approx. half an inch wide and leave for the
desired length of time (20 minutes to as long as you want - we've been known to
leave it on for six hours for an outstandingly bright shine and strong color).
Then shampoo, rinse, and dry the hair. If the color is what you want proceed
with a full head application. STEP 5) Wearing rubber gloves, apply henna
thoroughly to clean, dry hair, section by section, working from back to front.
STEP 6) Cover the roots first then apply to the ends (makes life easier). STEP
7) Now wrap hair in Cling wrap. STEP 8) Leave on for at least an hour for the best effect. If by
chance you don't like the color (because you didn't do a strand test like we
told you), don't try to bleach it out because bleach opens the hair's cuticles,
forcing the henna deeper and making it harder to remove. Henna can diminish the
effect of perming solution so if you want premed, hennaed hair, get the perm
first and apply the Henna later. Deeper colors can be built up by re-application
as often as you fancy. Using it over and over gives you a color and
shine that lasts for months. *As with any hair color product results may
vary so you must do a strand test. |
